The Share and Repair Network is delighted to launch our latest member focused video, Meet Repair Cafe Glasgow‘.

The video showcases the amazing Repair Cafe Glasgow which works to provide regular repair cafes to communities in Glasgow. Community members can bring clothes, small appliances, garden tools, electronics, toys, jewellery and more to be fixed at Repair Cafe Glasgow’s events, helping to reduce waste and keep precious items in use for longer.

As a charity, the organisation is able to operate thanks to donations, a network of skilled and dedicated staff and volunteers, as well as funding to support its main operations.

Director of Repair Cafe Glasgow Andrew Curry says:

“I see repair as a way to bring a lot of communities together. What I’d love to see from repair cafes is having them pop up in every single community across Scotland. There is so much social cohesion going on and people from all sorts of areas mixing together, teaching each other and learning.”

Repair Cafe Glasgow was founded in 2018 on the principles of Repair Café International, and was designed to build upon the idea that possessions have lots of life left in them when we maintain and repair them. Doing this in the community allows Repair Cafe Glasgow to create social cohesion whilst combatting isolation, and simultaneously helping reroute waste away from landfills.

Our series of videos can be found on the Circular Communities Scotland YouTube Channel, and aim to celebrate and showcase the amazing work happening on the ground in sharing and repairing across Scotland.

We are very proud to support and represent their work and look forward to releasing more materials elevating our membership’s work in future.
